Debt collection

Debt collection that resolves, not just pursues

We recover outstanding debts through a disciplined process that starts with engagement and escalates only when it has to. Most matters settle through a structured arrangement before legal costs build up.

Our team handles everything from soft collections to judgment enforcement, and we have the capacity to take on larger portfolios, including extended soft-collection and call-centre support.

  • Soft collections and debtor engagement
  • Structured payment arrangements and acknowledgements of debt
  • Tracing and locating debtors
  • Summons, default judgment and warrants of execution
  • Garnishee and emoluments attachment orders
  • Section 65, 66 and 72 proceedings
  • Credit bureau listings after judgment
  • Sequestration and liquidation, where commercially justified

Commercial judgment at every step

Litigation is our enforcement tool, not our starting point. Before escalating, we look at whether the debtor can pay, what the matter will cost and what is realistically recoverable, and we tell you plainly when a matter is not worth pursuing further.

For levy debts owed to bodies corporate and homeowners’ associations, see levy collections.

Frequently asked questions

How long does debt collection take?

Many matters settle within weeks of the letter of demand through a payment arrangement. Where summons is needed, an undefended matter can usually proceed to default judgment within a few months; defended matters take longer.

What happens after judgment if the debtor still does not pay?

We enforce the judgment through a warrant of execution against movable or immovable property, an emoluments attachment order against salary, a garnishee order against money owed to the debtor, or a section 65 financial inquiry.

Can you handle a large number of accounts at once?

Yes. We have capacity for larger portfolios, including extended soft-collection and call-centre support, with consolidated monthly reporting.
